The Global Platform for Action to End FGM/C is a consortium of civil society organizations, champions, survivors, and grassroots representatives united in a sole mission: to support the abandonment and prevention of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). The core group of the Global Platform includes Amref Health Africa, African Women’s Rights Advocates (AWRA), Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW), End FGM/C Africa Network, End FGM Canada Network, End FGM European Network, Equality Now, Orchid Project, Sahiyo, The Asia Network to End FGM/C, The US End FGM/C Network, There Is No Limit Foundation, Tostan, The Girl Generation, and The Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices.

The consortium was born out of a global gathering of key stakeholders in the FGM/C sector during the 2019 Women Deliver conference in Vancouver, Canada. The pre-conference on FGM/C organized at Women Deliver led to several months of global consultation amongst a multitude of the consortium's members and eventually culminated in the launch of the Global Call to Action to End FGM/C. The original event and was co-ordinated through a founding core group of globally representative organisations that managed logistics: Amref Health Africa, Coalition on Violence Against Women, End FGM Canada Network, End FGM European Network, Equality Now, Orchid Project, Sahiyo, The Girl Generation, The Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices, The US End FGM/C Network, There Is No Limit Foundation and Tostan.

In November 2019, to coincide with the International Conference on Population and Development in Nairobi, the Global Platform officially launched its Global Call to Action to End FGM/C. As of May 2021, the Call to Action to End FGM/C has been endorsed by 946 organizations and activists joining forces and uniting their voices behind the call for urgent action to accelerate ending FGM/C by 2030.

With over six years of existence, the Global Platform for Action to End FGM/C has grown into a key player in the global movement to end FGM/C. With members on almost all continents, we created a global space for exchange and support to put a definitive end to FGM/C across the globe.

The Global Platform and its Call to Action to End FGM/C represent cooperation and partnership within the global FGM/C sector, but also with allies across multiple intersecting and related sectors, such as sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and child, early, and forced marriage.
